On a roll! Lookman strikes again but potent Inter Milan add to Atalanta’s misery

The Nigerian forward had a good outing for Atalanta, but his effort was insufficient

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman scored for Atalanta, but his strike was not enough as they fell to a 3-2 loss to Inter Milan.

Atalanta were looking to end their two-game winless run when they welcomed Inter Milan to the Gewiss Stadium.

La Dea boss Gasperini handed Super Eagles forward Lookman a starting shirt, and his decision yielded dividends very early.

Atalanta won a penalty in the 24th minute, and Lookman did not make any mistake from the spot, as the converted with aplomb to make it 1-0.

However, Atalanta’s lead did not last, as Edin Dzeko replied with an equalizer in the 36th minute. The Bosnian then scored Inter Milan’s second eleven minutes into the second half.

La Dea’s problems were further compounded after Jose Luis Palomino scored an own goal in the 61st minute.

Nonetheless, the Argentine redeemed himself 16 minutes later, as he pulled one back for Atalanta to make it 3-2.

Atalanta pushed hard for an equalizer, but their efforts amounted to naught, as Inter Milan held on strong to see out the 3-2 win.

Lookman had a decent outing. Asides from his goal, he registered 45 touches, 82 percent pass accuracy, and three key passes. The 25-year-old now has seven goals in Serie A this season.

The loss means that Atalanta has now lost three Serie A games in a row. They now sit sixth on the table.
