No one can stop us! Nigeria’s leading goalscorer in Europe throws down title challenge

The Super Eagles striker has been pretty unstoppable in recent weeks, with the Smurfs flying high in Belgium

Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu is confident that KRC Genk has what it takes to continue their excellent winning run and challenge for the Jupiler Pro League title.

On Friday evening, Onuachu scored all four goals as Genk crushed Sporting Charleroi 4-1 at the Cegeka Arena.

It was the first four-goal haul of Onuachu’s career, taking his tally to 12 goals in his last seven games, making him Nigeria’s most prolific striker in a single European league.

The triumph over Charleroi was Genk’s ninth consecutive league victory, a club record.

And while Onuachu is undoubtedly Genk’s most potent weapon, the Super Eagles striker credits the entire team for the incredible run.

“Everyone is working and everyone knows what they have to do,” Onuachu said after the encounter, as per Rtbf.

With Onuachu firing on all cylinders, Genk have the best attack in the Belgian top flight, having scored 43 goals.

Manager Wouter Vrancken’s men equally have the joint-best defence (together with Royal Antwerp).

And it is no surprise that the Smurfs have a healthy ten-point lead over second-place Antwerp and an eleven-point advantage over champions Club Brugge.

Genk appear to be the best side capable of stopping Brugge from marching to a fourth consecutive league title.

And Onuachu is confident that Genk are ready to take on the Blue-Blacks to the very end.

“We are ready physically, mentally, and tactically,” the former FC Midtjylland ace said. “There is only us to stop us; the sky is our limit.”

Onuachu is currently the top goalscorer in the Belgian first division with 12 goals, three more than bus closest challenger OHL’s Mario González.
