Liverpool join Man United, Tottenham, Real Madrid in the race for Super Eagles star

The Reds have not been as potent going forward since letting Sadio Mane leave for Bayern Munich in the summer

Liverpool have joined a host of other Premier League and La Liga clubs pursuing Nigerian goal king Victor Osimhen.

The Reds spent big to bring Benfica’s Darwin Nunez to Anfield following the departure of Sadio Mane. The two-time Africa Footballer of the Year teamed up with Bayern Munich after ending his longtime stay at Merseyside.

Liverpool’s attack has underwhelmed this term, with Jurgen Klopp’s men no longer in the conversation for a title run.

The rebuilding at Anfield could continue next summer, with Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) reporting that the Reds are watching Osimhen keenly.

Despite suffering an injury in September, Osimhen has returned to action and has hit top form in recent weeks, quickly rising to become the top goalscorer in Serie A with eight goals.

His excellent performances in Italy and the UEFA Champions League have also fueled links to Manchester United and Tottenham. At the same time, Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be a big admirer of the Super Eagles striker.

A move away from Napoli in January is clearly out of the picture, though, with Osimhen leading the club’s charge for a first Serie A title in three decades.

Luciano Spalletti’s men sit comfortably atop the Italian Serie A table boasting an eight-point advantage over Lazio in second place.

Any interested suitor will have to cough out more than 100 million euros to convince Napoli to part with their prized asset when the Neapolitans are ready to let him leave.

Osimhen recently became Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in Serie A with 32 goals.
