Official: Stade de Reims sign two Nigeria u20 Women World Cup stars

The French top-flight campaigners have boosted their squad with the addition of two of Nigeria’s brightest young talents

Stade de Reims have announced the signing of Nigerian youngsters Rofiat Imuran and Oluwatosin Demehin.

Imuran and Demehin were prominent members of the Falconets squad that reached the quarterfinals of the U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica in August.

Following their excellent displays at the Mundial, Imuran and Demehin received invitations to join the senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons.

The two youngsters debuted for the Falcons during the international friendlies against the United States last month.

Convinced of their quality, Reims moved to convince the flying defenders to move to France quickly.

After signing a two-year contract that would keep her committed to the Red and Whites until 2024, 20-year-old Tosin said, “I am very happy to arrive here in France and more particularly at the Stade de Reims.

“Discovering the French championship with my teammate in the selection is a good thing because it will allow us to adapt and progress more quickly.”

Left-back Imuran netted one goal in four games for Nigeria at Costa Rica 2023 and she will look to deploy her pace and defensive acumen to maximum effect in the French first division.

And after signing the dotted lines for Reims, the 18-year-old said, “Playing for your national team is a source of pride! I now turn attention to my performances with Stade de Reims.

“Working, progressing and helping the team to aim even higher: these are my main objectives when I arrive here.”
