WATCH: Maduka Okoye’s howler gifts Algeria B team a goal in test game

Maduka Okoye committed a blooper against Tunisia at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon and was criticised by many fans for his role in Nigeria’s elimination

Okoye was the victim of vile statements from overreacting fans at the time and it ensured the player hadn’t featured for the Super Eagles ever since.

In the Super Eagles test match against the Algeria B team, Maduka Okoye gifted the North Africans a very cheap goal.

Receiving a back pass deep in his area, the Watford goalkeeper tarried before passing and was closed down by the Algerians who forced him into an error until he conceded a largely preventable goal.

Okoye has been the centre of debates amongst Nigerian football fans who believe he’s not the right man to be in goal for Nigeria.

While his latest blunder will spark reactions from fans, it’s not expected to determine the choice of Jose Peseiro.

The Super Eagles will face Algeria on September 27th with two goalkeepers still in camp. The duo of Adebayo Adeleye and Francis Uzoho are still possible choices to be called upon by the Super Eagles coaches.
