The four-time African champion has completed a move to Spain after ending her second spell in Belarus
Super Falcons captain Ebi Onome has signed for Spanish top-flight campaigners FC Levante Las Planas after quitting Belarusian giants FC Minsk.
Onome announced the development on her official Twitter page on Thursday, September 29. The veteran Nigerian centre-back will join international teammate Rita Chikwelu at the Spanish club.
Before arriving in Spain, Onome played in Belarus, China, Turkey, and Sweden after leaving Nigeria for Europe in 2009.
The former Bayelsa Queens star won the 2014 Belarusian league and cup double with FC Minsk and two Turkish women’s league titles with Ataşehir Belediyespor.
Onome’s impact on the Super Falcons is even more telling.
The Lagos-born defensive kingpin has been a part of the Nigerian women’s national team setup since 2003.
Onome has represented Nigeria at six editions of the African Women’s Championship, winning an incredible four titles.
In 2019, Onome became the first African footballer (male or female) to play in five FIFA World Cup tournaments. She is on course to extend that record when the Super Falcons kick off their World Cup campaign next year.
And at 39, Onome is not slowing down and has decided to test her qualities in the Spanish Women’s Championship.
