Transfer market guru provides update on Super Eagles star’s link to Borussia Dortmund

The Nigeria international forward is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe this summer

Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has debunked reports linking German side Borussia Dortmund with a move for Almeria striker Umar Sadiq.

After emerging as the most valuable player in the Spanish Segunda Division, Sadiq has been linked to some of Spain’s biggest clubs.

Villarreal were believed to be leading the race for his signature, but Sevilla and Real Betis are known admirers.

But recent reports suggested that Borussia Dortmund had offered 25 million euros for the Super Eagles striker.

The Bundesliga giants are looking to bring in a centre-forward with new signing Sebastien Haller struck down with a tumour.

But respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claims such an offer from Dortmund does not exist. Romano maintains that Villarreal remain the leading candidate in the race to sign the former AS Roma star.

Sadiq scored 18 goals and added 12 assists to help Almeria gain promotion to the Spanish La Liga.

The 25-year-old has never hidden his desire to experience life in the Primera Division.

Sadiq will likely make his La Liga debut when Almeria play host to Real Madrid in their first league match of the 2022-2023 season on August 14.
