Report: When Manchester United’s ‘crazy’ offer for Victor Osimhen will arrive at Napoli

The Nigeria international already has two goals in two Serie A matches for the Neapolitans this term

Napoli and Manchester United have failed to debunk rumours regarding the potential swap deal involving Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.

It appears the two-way transfer would continue to progress toward a logical conclusion.

Is an Osimhen-Ronaldo deal too late?

The summer transfer window will slam shut by midnight on Wednesday, August 31st.

There are, therefore, only a couple of days to thrash out the details of such a complicated deal.

And as revealed by La Repubblica as per Tutto Napoli, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has informed Napoli that Manchester United’s offer will arrive at the beginning of the week.

The sensational deal worth about 140 million euros will see Osimhen head to Manchester United and Ronaldo arrive in Naples.

While Osimhen will sign a permanent long-term contract, Ronaldo will join Napoli on a loan deal with Man United to pay a part of his massive salary.

Ronaldo wants the move

It is believed that Ronaldo has given his go-ahead for the swap deal that would see him return to Italy just a year after leaving Juventus.

The former Real Madrid favourite wants to play in the UEFA Champions League, a competition that Man United did not qualify for.

Napoli have guaranteed their spot in Europe’s premier club competition and are drawn in Group A alongside Ajax Amsterdam, Glasgow Rangers, and Liverpool.

While Ronaldo is favourably inclined to move to Napoli, the success of the complicated transfer depends primarily on Man United, writes La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Tutto Napoli).

The Red Devils are keen on Ajax attacker Antony and will only be interested in going after Osimhen if they fail in their approach for the Brazilian forward.

How crazy a deal is this?

Cristiano Ronaldo is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of his generation and probably in history.

At 37, the Manchester United ace is still one of the best strikers in the business.

His huge salary is a turn-off for many clubs, but the Portugal international remains one of the most attractive brands in the game.

However, Italian transfer market expert Beppe Accardi believes the financial implications of bringing Ronaldo back to Serie make the deal an impossible one.

And Accardi insists only a team of crazy people could push to complete such a complicated deal.

“I don’t think the Italian teams are willing to spend on Cristiano Ronaldo. Unless there are people crazy in the head,” Accardi told Tuttomercatoweb, as per Tutto Napoli.
