Despite losing their star forward this summer, the Bundesliga champions remain the favourites to win an eleventh consecutive league title at the end of the campaign
Bayern Munich have made it clear that they are no longer interested in bringing in another striker this summer, after sanctioning the departure of Polish forward Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona.
Still, several fans of the German giants continue to call on the Bavarians to make a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
Many consider the Super Eagles star as the perfect partner for Sadio Mane in the Bayern attack.
After weeks of playing hardball, Bayern eventually waved goodbye to leading striker Robert Lewandoski as he joined Barcelona.
Before the Polish man’s departure, the Bundesliga champions had already welcomed the arrival of Senegal international Sadio Mane from Liverpool.
Bayern have also signed 17-year-old French forward Mathys Tel from Stade Rennais.
But the feeling remains that the Bavarians have not adequately replaced Lewandowski despite smashing five goals past RB Leipzig in the Super Cup.
However, the club’s chief executive Oliver Kahn has confirmed that Bayern have ended their search for another striker.
The former Germany goalkeeper told Bild via Il Napolista: “We will not buy other strikers; this is not discussed.
“We have seen how many opportunities we have had in attack and how many different formations we have been able to field.
“You see how amazing we can be and how many good players we have in that department.
“We also still have several options in the current team; there is Zirkzee, there is Choupo-Moting, then the young Mathys Tel, who is training incredibly well at the moment.”
Osimhen is one of the most exciting young strikers in Europe at the moment.
The Nigeria international shot his reputation through the roof after an outstanding season that saw him smash in fourteen goals in 27 matches for Napoli in Serie A.
The former Lille lad also won the U23 Best Young Player award in the Italian topflight.
Commenting on a Goal Africa Twitter post, many fans think that Osimhen would form a terrific partnership with Mane. And they have called on Bayern to change their no-buy decision.
Napoli are happy to keep their prized jewel for at least one more season.
The Neapolitans have handed Osimhen more responsibility ahead of the new campaign, naming him the club’s number one penalty taker. He takes over from Italian playmaker Lorenzo Insigne who left for Toronto FC.
Osimhen netted his first penalty for Napoli as the Italians recorded a 1-1 friendly draw with Mallorca on Sunday evening.
