“He will want to leave” – Wouter Vrancken provides Super Eagles star’s transfer update

The Nigeria international is open to a move away from the Cegeka Arena if the right offer comes before the end of the transfer window

KRC Genk manager Wouter Vrancken has revealed Paul Onuachu’s transfer position as the transfer window draws to an exciting close.

None of Europe’s biggest clubs have moved for Paul Onuachu despite his prolific return for Racing Genk over the last couple of years.

Atletico Madrid, Lyon, and West Ham have all been linked to the man who has netted an impressive 68 goals in 114 games for the Belgian side.

Napoli are the latest club to be credited with an interest in Onuachu as the Italian Serie A giants prepare for the unlikely departure of key forward Victor Osimhen.

Genk boss Wouter Vrancken disclosed that Onuachu has made it clear that he wants to leave the Cegeka Arena.

And ahead of this weekend’s league clash against Seraing, Vrancken insists the Super Eagles striker would give his best for Genk should a transfer fail to materialise.

“I spoke with him (Onuachu) several times this summer about his desire to transfer,” Vrancken said, as per Walfoot.

“He then told me that if the opportunity arises and he likes the club, he will want to leave. When you score that many goals in three seasons, I understand it perfectly.

“But he also said he will continue to fight hard here. He feels good about our approach and has confidence in his playmates.

“So mentally he is giving positive signals. If he is physically ready to start against Seraing? I think so, slowly and surely.”

Onuachu has played for 36 minutes across two league matches this term as he regains match fitness after a lengthy injury layoff.
