The Super Eagles striker has been linked with a move away from Cegeka Arena this summer, but he has still made an early return for preseason
Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has returned to Genk for their preseason campaign despite the speculations that he could leave the club this summer.
The record-making Super Eagles striker sealed his name in European folklore at Feyenoord last season. Dessers ended as the highest goalscorer in the maiden edition of the Europa Conference League with ten goals.
However, Dessers was only on loan at Feyenoord, and the Dutch side refused to sign him permanently because of their inability to meet up with Genk’s evaluation of the striker.
Nieuwsblad reports that the 27-year-old returned for preseason on Monday. Yet, the Super Eagles star’s future still hangs in the balance.
Dessers is not sure of a regular first-team shirt, especially with compatriot Paul Onuachu still present at Genk. And he could still leave the club this summer.
The former FC Utrecht man has been linked with a move to the Serie A. However, he could be a good fit for the Bundesliga.
Still, any club that is interested in Dessers’ services would have to dole out at least €4.5billion.
