The Tigers’ objective to improve their attack on their return to the Italian top flight remains intact
Italian club US Cremonese will make a move for Nigeria and Club Brugge forward David Okereke should their chase for KRC Genk’s Cyriel Dessers prove fruitless.
After a 26-year stay away from Serie A, Cremonese are back among the big boys, and the Tigers are focused on putting together a prolific enough attack to sustain their push for survival.
Racing Genk’s targetman Dessers is the newcomers’ priority signing, though. According to the Belgian media, I Grigiorossi already have an offer rejected for the Nigerian striker who excelled on loan at Feyenoord last term.
But recent reports indicate that talks continue to progress between Genk and Cremonese.
Dessers and his representatives have been to Italy to meet with the Italian side’s delegation, with the 27-year-old stating it would be a dream to play in Serie A.
Cremonese, however, have their plan B in place should talks with Genk and Dessers hit the rocks.
Per a TV Dello Sport report (via Voetbal Belgie), the Gray and Reds will target Club Brugge’s Nigerian attacker David Okereke.
Okereke impressed in the Serie last season, scoring seven goals in 33 games on loan at Venezia. The Flying Donkeys were, however, relegated, and Okereke returned to Brugge, where he is surplus to requirements.
Cremonese will offer to take Okereke on loan with a buy option should they avoid the drop at the end of the campaign.
