“He’ll have a great time with Osimhen” – ‘New Kakha’ tipped to blossom beside Super Eagles striker at Napoli

The Nigerian forward was Il Partenopei’s leading goalscorer last season, but it was not enough as the club only finished third on the league table

Mamuka Kvaratskhelia, the uncle of exciting winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, is convinced that the youngster will be the perfect attacking partner for Nigerian star Victor Osimhen when the 21-year-old Georgian arrives at Napoli.

Napoli have reportedly sealed a long-term deal for Kvaratskhelia, with Il Partenopei set to carry out a significant reshuffling in their creative department.

While the Neapolitans are pulling all the stops to retain Osimhen despite the attentions of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle, they have already lost Italian playmaker Lorenzo Insigne to the MLS on a free transfer.

Belgian attacker Dries Mertens will also likely leave the Diego Maradona Stadium this summer. Udinese’s Gerard Deulofeu and Juventus ace Federico Bernardeschi are on the radar of Napoli as possible replacements.

Dinamo Batumi’s free-scoring playmaker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is expected to arrive in Naples any moment. His uncle, Mamuka Kvaratskhelia, believes the youngster, often likened to Georgian great Kakha Kaladze, could forge an excellent partnership with Osimhen.

“For his movements and ability to aim for the goal, he reminds me of Kakha,” Mamuka Kvaratskhelia said of his younger relative, as per Il Mattino via Gonfialarete.

“On the counterattack, he is very dangerous and in fact, I think he will have a great time with Osimhen. One thing is certain: in the last 20 years, we have never had a player like him. And now everyone goes to the stadium to see him. Off the pitch, he is a golden boy.

“He is very professional; he reminds me of Kaladze for attention and precision. On the pitch, he then puts his heart into every game. He has no tattoos; he is not a hothead. In a nutshell: he only thinks about football.”

Osimhen scooped the Serie A Young Player of the Year award last season after netting 14 league goals and providing five assists for Napoli.
