Ex-Arsenal star Kelechi Nwakali hits big achievement in England

Super Eagles midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has won the award for Barnsley’s Goal of The Month for December, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nwakali has started to get more game time at Barnsley following his transfer last summer. When he first arrived at the club, his game time was limited. However, since the turn of the year, he has started playing more.

Nwakali has featured in six of Barnsley’s last seven games, with one goal to his name. That goal came last month, as it helped them claim a 2-1 win over Exeter at St. James Park.

That win ended Barnsley’s three-game losing streak and set them up to win three of their next four games. In a related development, that goal has now won the Goal of the Month award at Barnsley.

This is a big win for Nwakali, as he is fast becoming a fan favourite at Barnsley due to his impressive performances for the cub. The former Arsenal man will be looking to continue his impressive performances for Barnsley and help the club gain promotion to the English Championship.

However, his ultimate dream is to get a good move to a bigger club. Nwakali was one of the standout players at the 2015 Under-17 World Cup, but he has failed to live up to his potential. He joined Arsenal in 2016, but despite different loan deals, he failed to get into the first team.

He eventually left Arsenal in 2019 and has had stints at Huesca, Alcorcon, Ponferradina and Chaves. At Barnsley, he has found a bit of stability. If he continues to play well in the League One, he could get a good move by next summer.
