There has been significant interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia for arguably Nigeria’s biggest star in the Czech Republic
Slavia Prague assistant manager Jaroslav Köstl has revealed the Czech side’s position on the transfer rumours surrounding Nigerian international forward Peter Olayinka.
Olayinka has been with Slavia since 2018, having joined from Belgian side KAA Gent for €3.2 million following a storied adventure through Europe.
With an estimated market value of €6.5 million, Olayinka is one of the most senior squad members of the dethroned league champions, captaining the side on several occasions last season.
The Super Eagles star has enjoyed a successful stay in the Czech Republic, winning three league titles and two cup honours.
Olayinka was also instrumental to Slavia Prague’s fine run to the knockout stages of the Europa Conference League last term.
But the 26-year-old’s four-year association with the Slavists is increasingly looking like it is ending this summer, with several reports linking him with a move to Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
Slavia assistant manager Jaroslav Köstl is convinced that Olayinka would have no problem staying back in Prague but admits that the club would be ready to do business for their treasured import when confronted with an irresistible offer.
“Peter is happy in Prague, he has been here the longest of foreign players and Slavia has grown to his heart,” Jaroslav Köstl told the media.
“It can be seen in every conversation we have with him. If an acceptable offer comes for him, he is not a player we would prevent from leaving.
“He did a great job here. On the other hand, he is a great quality footballer that we would miss. That’s why either an offer will come that cannot be rejected, or we hope that he will stay with us.”
Olayinka has a year left on his contract and could leave for free next summer.
The versatile attacker featured for over an hour as Slavia played out a 1-1 draw with Olympiakos in a preseason friendly on Wednesday.
