The Turkish champions-elect have been unsuccessful in their bid to tie down Nwakaeme, but they still have the Nigerian forward in their plans
Turkish Super Lig champions-elect Trabzonspor will wait till the end of the season before they resume contract negotiations with Nigerian striker Anthony Nwakaeme.
Nwakaeme has been consistent for the Black Sea Storm since his move from Hapoel Beer Sheva seven years ago.
This season, the 33-year-old has been fantastic, recording eleven goals and ten assists in 27 appearances, helping Trabzonspor to their first Super Lig triumph in 38-years.
However, Nwakaeme could be out of the club this summer, as his contract will expire at the end of June.
The Black Sea Storm has tried to tie him down to another deal, but Nwakaeme has refused to extend his contract, with reports stating that Trabzonspor is unwilling to meet his financial demands.
According to Trt Spor, the Super Lig champions-elect will stop all negotiations till the end of the season.
Nwakaeme is already 33 and is closing in the twilight of his career. As such, the former Hapoel Beer Sheva man might be chasing more money rather than staying in Europe.
Trabzonspor will play their final league game on the 22nd of May.
