“We rejected ₦1.13 billion” – Milos Vazura confirms transfer drama surrounding Villarreal-linked Super Eagles star

The summer transfer window is several weeks away, but many European clubs are already making their moves to acquire or move on their primary targets

Partizan Belgrade sporting director Milos Vazura has confirmed that the club has rebuffed moves by Almeria to acquire the full rights of Super Eagles star Umar Sadiq.

Partizan allowed Sadiq to join Almeria for just €5 million in 2020, despite the striker excelling with 23 goals and 19 assists in 52 games.

But the Serbian giants included several clauses in the contract, including 30% of the Nigerian striker’s sell-on rights, which could see the deal rise to more than nine million euros.

Almeria have already paid for some of those variables, including half a million euros when he hit 25 goals for the Rojiblancos. The Spezia academy product has scored 38 goals and 17 assists in 73 games for the Spanish side.

La Union will part with another half a million when Sadiq makes his 75th appearance.

And according to Partizan Belgrade News, Almeria has the option to buy 30% of the rights to Sadiq for three million euros or pay Partizan 40% of the profit made on the sale of the Nigerian to another club.

With a €60 million release clause, Sadiq will not leave Almeria on the cheap. The 25-year-old has recently been linked with a €25 million move to Villarreal and Benfica.

But it has come to light that Almeria offered Partizan ₦1.13 billion (€3 million) to buy out their rights on the Sadiq, but the Black-and-whites have made public that they will not listen to any offer less than the stimulated figure.

“It’s true, we rejected 2.5 million euros from Almería for Sadiq’s percentage,” sporting director Milos Vazura said, as per Estadio Deprotivo.

“We will wait for the clause to be activated. We will not do anything in advance.”

Ramadan-observing Sadiq will make his 74th appearance for Sadiq when coach Rubi’s men host Ponferradina at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos on Monday night.
