‘Wave the flag’ – Oshoala stars in Barcelona’s historic feat in spite of injury

Super Falcons captain, Asisat Oshoala was a star at the Camp Nou as Barcelona made history in women’s football with a crowd of more than 90,000 people in recorded.

Only a few stadia in international football can match that feat, even in men’s football and 91,553 spectators must be one of the best ever seen in the history of football.

Nigerian star, Oshoala has had an injury lay-off but joined her teammates to celebrate the feat at the hallowed ground of the Catalan giants.

Barcelona Femeni again stamped authority over their rivals Real Madrid women’s team as they thrashed them 5-2 in the historic game.

Goals by Alexia Putellas, Graham Hansen, Claudia Pina and Aitana Bonmati were crucial for Barcelona as they defeated their Spanish rivals 8-3 on aggregate.

Despite missing key players, Barcelona Femeni are again on course to stamp their status as the best female team in Europe, qualifying for the Champions League semifinals again.

Coach of the team, Jonathon Giráldez selected an attacking line-up, with Pina coming in for Leila.

Oshoala, Lieke Martens, and Mariona Caldentey, among others were missing from the squad but it was enough for business to run smoothly.
