World Cup playoffs: Nigeria-Ghana showdown dates revealed

The two West African giants will go head-to-head next month to determine who will qualify for the biggest sporting competition in the World

The dates for Nigeria’s two-legged World Cup playoffs against Ghana have been announced. Ghana will host the first leg on March 24 before the Super Eagles welcome their rivals on March 27.

Soccernet had already reported that Nigeria would host the game at the newly-renovated Moshood Abiola Stadium, formerly the National Stadium Abuja.

Meanwhile, Ghana will host the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium after CAF denied their request to move it to the Baba Yara Stadium.

Both countries will be seeking the World Cup ticket as a consolation for a disappointing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Ghana finished last in a group that had Morocco, Gabon and Comoros, while Nigeria suffered a second-round exit following a 1-0 loss to Tunisia.

The Super Eagles will be seeking their seventh appearance at the FIFA World Cup finals, while Ghana will be aiming to qualify for their fourth World Cup.
