Nigerian stars show brilliance as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid run riot in Spanish Primera division Feminina

The Catalan giants continued their flawless performance this season with another victory thanks to the performance of their Nigerian import, while their Madrid rivals also had a successful day at the office

Super Falcons duo Asisat Oshoala and Rasheedat Ajibade were on the score sheet as they fired their Barcelona and Atletico Madrid to comprehensive victories in the Spanish Laliga Feminino.

Asisat Oshoala helped her Barcelona Femini side continue their invincible form away at Athletic Bilbao, thrashing their hosts 3-0.

Marta Torrejon put the Champions League holders ahead with a 41st-minute finish to give Barcelona a one-goal lead at halftime.

The champions did not give their hosts any breathing space as Super Falcons star Asisat fired home from close range five minutes after the break.

Her 50th-minute strike was her seventh in her last five games for Barcelona Femini. It’s also her 19th league goal of the season, leaving her just one short of her highest-scoring campaign.

Marina Caldentey then put the final nail in the coffin for Athletic Bilbao, as she scored the third for Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Ajibade was also doing the business at the capital as she scored a brace in Atletico Madrid’s 5-0 mauling of Sevilla.

Atletico Madrid Femini took the lead through Estefania Banini in the 20th minute. Barbara Latorre then added another in the 26th minute to make it 2-0.

Super Falcons forward Ajibade was not left out of the show as she compounded Sevilla’s woes with two quickfire goals in the 32nd and 37th minutes.

The game was already wrapped up at halftime as Las Colchoneras had a 4-0 lead at the break. The victory took Atletico Madrid Madrid Femini to fourth, just a point behind the Champions League qualifications spot.

For Barcelona, they have won their last 30 games and sit 22 points above second-placed Real Sociedad Femini.

The Catalan giants just need to win two of their last eight games to retain their title.
