Newcastle United add ₦2.9billion valued Nigerian star to their list of targets

The Magpies have been linked with Osimhen and Simon in the past, but another Super Eagles star has caught their attention

Premier League club Newcastle have been linked with a move for Super Eagles fullback Zaidu Sanusi.

Under the new owners, the Magpies are looking to build a formidable side. They were linked to Nigerian attackers Moses Simon and Victor Osimhen in the last transfer window, but nothing materialised from those talks.

Newcastle are short of talent at left-back, with Matt Target only available till the end of the season, after which he would return to his parent club Aston Villa.

Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummet have also struggled this season, and Sanusi could be the ideal replacement.

Sanusi has been outstanding for Porto since he arrived from Santa Clara three years ago. He has been the go-to man at left-back for the Dragons.

This season, the 24-year-old has made 13 league appearances for the former Portuguese champions, with a goal to his name.

Sanusi still has three years on his contract, but abola reports that Newcastle are looking to swoop in for him this summer.

Newcastle are currently battling relegation, but if they stay, the attraction of the Premier League could be the pull they need to get the Nigerian speedster.
