The striker made his long-awaited return from an injury layoff in the Neapolitans’ win at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Monday evening

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has expressed his delight after making his return to the pitch in Napoli’s 2-0 win at Bologna on Monday evening.

Osimhen returned to action for the first time in two months, coming on as a substitute for Belgium international Dries Mertens in the 71st-minute.

Before last night, Osimhen had not played for Napoli since he suffered a cheekbone and orbital fracture in the 3-2 loss to Inter Milan last November.

The Nigerian international was ruled out for three months after surgery, which prevented him from representing Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

However, Osimhen has made a quick return, and he could not hide his delight after playing his first game in 57 days.

The 23-year-old, who had a mask on his face, took to Twitter to express his happiness following the win against Bologna.

Osimhen said: Feels So Good To Be Back! Solid Performance From The Boys. Onto The Next One, GOD Is The Greatest. We Move.

The Nigerian will now be aiming for a start in Napoli’s next league game against Salernitana on Sunday. Osimhen has scored nine goals in 14 appearances for Luciano Spalletti’s men this season.
