Ex-Super Eagles star speaks on Antonio Conte’s arrival at Spurs.

Former Nigerian International Ifeanyi Udeze has reacted to Tottenham’s appointment of Antonio Conte as the club’s new coach. Udeze has backed the former Chelsea manager to do well at Tottenham.

Udeze described Conte as a ‘capable hand’ for the role. Conte was announced as the new manager of the London club yesterday.

This was after the sacking of former coach Nuno Espirito Santos following a series of poor results. Ex-Super Eagles player Udeze has now tipped Conte to have a successful spell at Spurs.

“Conte is a very capable hand for the Tottenham Hotspur job, Udeze told Goal.  This is a manager who led Inter Milan to win the Serie A title last season. He has also coached Chelsea in the past, and he did very well,” Udeze said.

“He is an experienced manager, and with his personality, he can take on any big team in Europe with this Tottenham team. Honestly, I am not doubting his ability at all.”

“Conte knows what he wants. For him to join Spurs, I am sure there has been an intimate discussion with the club’s management over funds to get players.”

Udeze also spoke about Tottenham’s striker Harry Kane —who has been in poor form after a failed move to Man City in the summer.

“The truth is that Kane is not happy, and that reflects in his game.”

“The only thing that can make him stay is if Conte gets good players to complement his efforts because he wants to win,” Udeze continued.

Ifeanyi Udeze had a spell in the Premier League with West Brom Albion in 2003. The left-back also got 35 caps for the Nigeria National team between 2000 to 2005.

He featured for Nigeria in the 2002 and 2004 AFCON tournaments. He also made two appearances in their group stage exit in the 2002 World Cup tournament.
