Aina’s performance not enough to save Torino

by Joba Ogunwale
November 6, 2021
in News, NewsNow, Nigeria, Serie A

The Nigerian full-back put in an impressive shift, but it was not enough to save il Toro from a defeat at the Stadio Alberto Picco

Ola Aina gave another solid performance, but Torino suffered a 1-0 loss in their Serie A clash against Spezia on Saturday afternoon.

Aina was excellent defensively, winning seven of his eight ground duels. The former Chelsea star also made three tackles and five interceptions.

The full-back was also decent going forward, firing one shot off-target and putting in five accurate long balls.

Aina's form this season has led to reports that Torino are considering extending his contract, with his current deal expiring in 2023.

But despite his performance on Saturday, Torino suffered their sixth loss of the season as Jacopo Sala's 58th-minute strike was enough to hand Spezia the win.

Ivan Juric's men are now 12th on the log with just four wins from 11 matches, while Spezia moved up to 15th.
