The Nigerian international has been with the Serie A side since 2018, and he could be set to stay with them beyond the limits of his current contract
Torino have reportedly decided to renew the contract of Ola Aina after the Super Eagles defender’s bright start to the 2021-22 league campaign.
Aina has been with Il Toro since the summer of 2018, when he completed a loan switch from Chelsea. The fullback impressed enough during that campaign and was rewarded with a permanent deal that cost Torino close to €10 million.
An indifferent campaign followed, and the Maroons allowed Aina to join Fulham on loan in September 2020, after the London club parted with €2.5 million.
Aina excelled in the Premier League for Fulham, but it was not enough to help the Cottagers retain their top-flight status, and he returned to Italy following their relegation.
Meeting new manager Luca Juric at Torino, Aina returned to work and soon convinced his Italian boss with his quality and work rate.
Aina has made ten appearances in the Serie A and another in the Coppa Italia, gradually becoming one of Juric’s most trusted defenders.
And TorinoGranata reports that Il Toro have identified the Nigerian as one of the key players to hand a contract extension.
A fullback who can operate efficiently on both the right and left flanks, Aina’s current contract expires on June 30, 2023.
