Victor Osimhen reveals the most important goal of his career

The talented Nigerian youngster was the hero for Napoli at the weekend, coming up with a late winner over Torino

Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has tagged his winning strike against Torino on Sunday evening as the most crucial goal of his career.

Napoli had won their first seven matches in the Italian Serie A this season, but they found it tough to break down a determined Torino side until Osimhen’s late intervention.

The Super Eagles striker continued his remarkable goalscoring form as he decided the closely fought encounter with an 81st-minute header inside the Diego Maradona Stadium.

The strike was the latest from the Nigerian forward, who has currently 56 goals in 129 games for Royal Charleroi, Lille, and Napoli.

But Osimhen insists that the match-winner against Torino is his career’s most important goal as it arrived in a tough home match with the Napoli fans expecting all three points.

“It’s amazing to win; for all of us. It’s an incredible atmosphere. We deserved to win, also for the statistics today and in general for the whole season,” the former Wolfsburg lad told DAZN, as per TuttoNapoli.

“This championship is not easy; we have to continue like this, without stopping.

“(For the goal) I saw that the ball was coming; I had to anticipate it; it could have been an opportunity. It’s true, I was nervous, they kept pushing from behind, and it was getting difficult.

“It was the most important goal of my career because it was important to win, and so we welcomed the fans.”

Osimhen’s strike against Torino is his fifth goal in seven Serie A games this season and eighth in all competitions.

Napoli’s latest win leaves them top of Serie A with a maximum of 24 points after eight games, and they are the only side with a 100% record in Europe’s top five leagues.
