Liberia’s coach sends strong message to Nigeria

The Super Eagles are odds on favorite to win the game, but Peter Butler believes that the Super Eagles are not invincible.

Lone Stars Coach Peter Butler has stated his belief in his team, stating that his team can shock Nigeria when both teams slug it out at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Friday.

“They are good, but Liberia can put up a stronger challenge against Nigeria,” Butler told Monrovia Times.

“Forget the past records and look at the current performance of our opponents.”

Liberia are in Nigeria with a 37-man delegation as they look to claim a major scalp when they play their first game in the World Cup qualifiers.

18 players have arrived in Lagos, while Kpah Sherman, Ashley Williams, Jeremy Singbeh, Prince Blade and David Tweh are expected to join the squad to complete the listing of invited players.

The English manager faces a monstrous, but possible task on friday. They will draw inspiration from the Sierra Leone team that salvaged a 4-4 draw earlier this year in Benin-city.

However, the Lone Stars will have to find a way to salvage their wretched record which has seen them draw two and lose four of their last six games.

The last time Liberia won a game was on September 4th 2019 against Sierra Leone. Exactly  two years and a day after, they face Nigeria.
