Euro Wrap: Goals from Oshoala, Okoronkwo, Kayode, Ohale power Barcelona, Saint-Etienne, Sivasspor, Alaves to victories

It was a goalfest Saturday for a few Nigerian stars in Europe who scored for their respective clubs in league clashes

Following her fine brace in the 5-0 demolition of Real Betis two weeks ago, Asisat Oshoala again found the back of the net twice as Barcelona subjected Valencia to an 8-0 humiliation at the Estadi Johan Cruyff in a Primera Division Femenina matchday three meeting on Saturday.

Oshoala opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, and the home side added four more before the halftime whistle went off.

The Super Falcons star grabbed her second goal moments after the restart, but she couldn’t complete her hat-trick as Bruna Vilamala replaced her in the 66th minute.

Oshoala now has four goals in three league matches for the Barcelona Ladies.

At the Ciudad Deportiva José Luis Compañón, Super Falcons defender Osinachi Marvis Ohale scored her first goal of the season to guide Deportivo Alaves to a 2-0 win over Villarreal.

The 29-year-old got the ball rolling for the home side midway through the opening period before Naima’s 88th-minute effort earned the hosts their third league win in as many matches.

In the French Feminine Division, Desire Oparanozie was on from start to finish for Dijon, but it was Ijeoma Esther Okoronkwo who grabbed a double to lift visiting Saint Etienne to a convincing 4-0 victory at the Stade des Poussots, Dijon.

Okoronkwo struck the visitor’s first two blows in the 4th and 25th minute before further efforts from Caputo and Chaumette in the second half sealed the first win of the campaign for the Jérôme Bonnet-tutored ladies.

In Turkey, Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa saw every minute of action as Fatih Karagumruk fell to a disappointing 4-0 win at Olanrewaju Kayode’s Sivasspor.

Before either side could settle, Kayode raced to break the deadlock in the first minute of the clash, pouncing on a Pedro Henrique pass to net his first league goal of the season.

The visitors failed to recover from that early blow as further goals from Goutas, Jorge Felix, and Max Gradel condemned Musa and co to only their second defeat in the Super Lig.
