Delighted Victor Osimhen shares what is more ‘important’ than his brilliant brace against Wilfred Ndidi’s Leicester City

The Nigerian forward gave Europe a glimpse of his extraordinary quality on a night of stunning football at the King Power Stadium

Victor Osimhen has expressed his happiness at scoring his first two goals of the season for Napoli that earned Luciano Spalletti’s men a 2-2 draw in their Europa League matchday one clash with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Thursday.

The Foxes looked to have run away with the tie as Ayoze Perez’s fine finish from close range in the first half and Harvey Barnes’ crisp strike with his left foot gave the hosts a two-goal cushion.

But Osimhen snatched a deserved point for Italian giants with a pair of beautiful goals. The Super Eagles striker halved Napoli’s deficit with a deft lob over Kasper Schmeichel before scoring a second with a sublime header to level the contest.

After the encounter, Osimhen couldn’t hide his delight at finding the back of the net twice for the Neapolitans. Still, the 22-year-old forward believes helping the Serie A side earn a share of the spoils was more important than his two-goal haul.

“I am happy to have helped the team with two goals,” the former Lille ace told the media.

“But the most important thing is that we play as a team, came back from two goals down and got a point at the start of the Europa League.”

It was mixed fortunes for Osimhen’s compatriots who featured for Leicester City. While Kelechi Iheanacho assisted Barnes’ goal, Wilfred Ndidi got sent off late for a second booking.

Leicester are next in action against Brighton and Hove Albion on the road in the Premier League on Sunday. Napoli return to Serie A action away to Udinese on Monday.
