Osimhen could still face Ronaldo’s Juventus as Napoli plan to use Immobile as an example in appeal case

The striker was handed a two-match suspension following the red card he received in Napoli’s opening match of the Italian Serie A season against Venezia

Victor Osimhen could still face Juventus next month as Napoli intends to appeal the two-match ban he received for the red card he received in the match against Venezia on Sunday.

Osimhen was sent off in the 23rd-minute of that encounter at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium for shoving Daan Heymans.

Napoli had hoped he would only miss one game, but Serie A’s disciplinary committee found his offence to be violent conduct and subsequently added an additional game.

The two-match ban means Osimhen will miss this weekend’s clash against Genoa and the big game against Juventus after next month’s international break.

However, the Neapolitans plan to appeal the two-match ban with the hope it will be reduced to one, making him available for the clash against the Old Lady.

Napoli, through their lawyer, will use the case of Ciro Immobile against Arturo Vidal as a reference in their appeal to reduce the ban to one game. Last season, Immobile was sent off in Lazio’s clash against Inter Milan for slapping Vidal.

But surprisingly, the Italian striker only missed one game, and Napoli intend to use the situation as a reference in Osimhen’s appeal.

“Osimhen appeal? Access to the documents by tomorrow. Cancel the disqualification for Genoa? No, we will focus on Juve. The reference is the Immobile-Vidal case, the boy did not commit a violent act,” Napoli’s lawyer told gonfialarete

The lawyer also revealed an appeal depends on what is contained in the report of the Serie A disciplinary committee.

Nonetheless, Osimhen will miss the game against Genoa this weekend.
