The Nigerian assisted three goals in his last two games, helping Nantes to four points in two games, but he was helpless in his side’s 1-0 loss to Rennes.
Nigerian forward Moses Simon could not prevent his side from a 1-0 loss to Rennes at the Roazhon Park. The winger had a poor game, and he was hauled off by Coach Kombouare at halftime.
Securing a good result was always going to be a difficult one for Nantes, as the home side were looking for their first Ligue 1 win for this season after picking up just two points from their opening fixtures.
The first half was relatively uneventful, as Nantes, in the usual fashion, sat back to soak in the pressure and hit Rennes on the counter whenever they had the opportunity.
However, no opportunity came forth as both sides could only fashion one shot in target apiece. Surprisingly, Simon, who had been the danger man for the Yellow house since the beginning of the season, was taken off at halftime and was replaced by Roli Pereira de Sa.
The second half resumed with Rennes having the bulk of the possession and Nantes trying to keep a tight defensive line.
Nantes’ tactics worked till the 58th minute when a strike from Martin Terrier was enough to demystify the Yellow house’s defence. The forward received a pass from Baptiste Santamaria and fired home, beating Alban Lafont in goal.
The goal was enough to clinch the three points for Rennes, and it signalled the end of Nantes’ unbeaten run.
