The Super Eagles kick off preparations for their two World Cup qualifying games with the release of the squad list in the coming hours
FC Lorient striker Terem Moffi has been invited to join the Super Eagles squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde in September, as per Ouest-France.
Moffi has scored a goal – the winner in his side’s 1-0 defeat of Monaco on matchday two – in three matches this season for Lorient.
The Nigerian international managed 14 league goals for Les Merlus last term to earn a pair of appearances for the Super Eagles in friendly games against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in June.
The 22-year-old forward could make his competitive debut for the 2013 Afcon winner when the former champions square up against Liberia and Cape Verde next month.
Nigeria are billed to trade tackles with the Lone Stars at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on September 3.
The three-time African champions will then make the trip to Cape Verde four days later to face the Blue Sharks at the Estádio Municipal Adérito Sena in Mindelo.
But quarantine rules imposed on players from the United Kingdom and Spain to some red list countries, including Cape Verde, could see as many as eleven Nigerian stars miss out on the trip to Mindelo.
But Moffi will be one of the players available for selection to feature in both matches as Nigeria begin the race for Qatar 2022.
