The Belgian FA Cup winners have beaten a host of other clubs to the signing of the Chelsea academy graduate
According to transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea forward Ike Ugbo has completed his move to Jupiler League side KRC Genk.
The Belgian club reportedly parted with €7.5 million (N3.6 billion) to convince the UEFA Champions League winners to part with the 22-year-old Super Eagles prospect.
Ugbo had become the toast of several clubs in the European circuit following an incredible loan spell at Cercle Brugge, where he scored 15 league goals last season.
Newly promoted Serie A side Salernitana and Marseille – looking to hijack the deal in the eleventh hour – were linked to the signing of the Chelsea academy graduate ahead of the 2021-22 season.
But Genk have won the race to his signature and are adding the ex-England youth international of Nigerian descent to the Super Eagles duo of Paul Onuachu and Cyriel Dessers.
Ugbo could make his Genk debut when the Smurfs host Anderlecht at the Luminus Arena this weekend.
