Watford sign Nigerian-eligible forward following Etebo’s announcement

Watford have added to their Nigerian entourage after they signed Dapo Mebude on Friday. The Hornets took to their Twitter handle to announce the signing of the youngster.

Dapo was signed on a two-year contract with the option of another two years extension at the expiration of the contract.

It does seem that the Watford hierarchy has something for Nigerian players as he becomes the latest player of Nigerian descent to arrive at Vicarage Road in the summer transfer.

Dapo arrives at Vicarage Road after he was released at Glasgow Rangers when his contract expired in June. He spent last season on loan at Queen of the South, where he got two goals in eleven appearances.

The pacy forward may be on the periphery next season as he would have to compete with more seasoned top-flight campaigners at Watford.

The 19-year-old joins the likes of Emmanuel Dennis and Joshua King, whose arrival was also announced on Friday evening.

Dapo has represented Scotland at various youth levels but he is yet to play a game for the senior team of Scotland, and as such, he is still available for selection for the Super Eagles.
