Transfers: Getafe make an offer of ₦7.8b for Nigeria’s star but it is rejected

The Deep Blue Ones are hoping to bring in another Nigerian talent to their club, following Oghenekaro Etebo and Ikechukwu Uche, who both played for the club

Almeria have rejected a €16m bid from Getafe for the services of Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq. According to estadiodeportivo, Getafe and Sevilla are among the clubs interested in the former Dream Team striker, but the Deep Blue Ones are the first to make an approach.

However, their €16m (₦7.8b) is still way off the value Almeria want. La Unión will only part ways with their prized asset if a club is willing to pay his release clause of €60m.

Sadiq joined Almeria from Partizan Belgrade for €5m this season, and he proved to be an instant hit. The 24-year-old scored 20 league goals and another two in the Copa Del Rey- although Almeria failed in their promotion bid.

This is in addition to the six goals he already scored for Partizan before moving to Spain. It’s unlikely he stays in the Spanish second division next season, but any club hoping to take him would have to pay more than the €16M Getafe are offering.
