Former Arsenal British-Nigerian star seals Birmingham deal

The Blues have made their third summer signing ahead of the new Championship season, which starts on August 7

British-Nigerian midfielder Chuks Aneke has made the short journey to Birmingham after his successful transfer to Birmingham FC from Charlton Athletic.

The deal is an obvious step up for the attacking midfielder as he goes a tier higher, leaving League One football to play in the Skybet Championship.

The midfielder made a name for himself last season when he scored 15 goals in 38 appearances and averaged an incredible 0.4 goals per game record.

Aneke, a former Arsenal player who has struggled with injuries for most of his career, would look to impress during his two years contract as he is now under the tutelage of his former boss, Lee Bowyer.

Aneke was born in England but is still eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents. The 27-year-old midfielder was a youth international for England but has made no appearances for the Three Lions, leaving him still eligible to play for the Super Eagles.

Aneke could be a decent addition to the Eagles as he’s very efficient from dead-ball positions.
