Former AC Milan Star Praises Joe Aribo’s Qualities

The Super Eagles star performance in Rangers win over their Old Firm rivals Celtic on Sunday impressed a former Danish international

Former AC Milan star Brian Laudrup has praised the performance of Joe Aribo in Rangers 2-0 win over Celtic in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

Aribo, who played as an unorthodox right-winger, had a hand in Rangers goals on Sunday. The Nigerian international set up Steven Davis first goal, and his cross forced Jonjoe Kenny to direct his ball into his own net for Rangers second.

And speaking after the encounter, Laudrup, who also played for Rangers, revealed that Aribo’s display on Sunday was his best performance to date in an Old Firm derby.

“I said last week that I hoped Aribo could go and grab this game by the scruff of the neck, Laudrup told Daily Mail per Daily Record.  I wasn’t disappointed. I thought it was definitely his best Old Firm performance yet.

Aribo has scored eight goals and provided six assists for the Gers in all competitions this season. The 24-year-old has built on his first season, which saw him won the club’s young player of the year.

Laudrup added that he has always been a fan of the Nigerian ever since he arrived at the Ibrox in 2019.

“I’ve never made any secret that I am a big Aribo fan. He is brave, with outstanding close control, and brings something different.

“You can give him the ball in the tightest of spaces, and he will retain it or produce a little run that takes people out of the game. That’s so important in terms of trying to navigate through the final third.
