Osimhen, Oshoala The Biggest Winners At Ballers Awards

The second edition of the Ballers awards took place on Saturday evening- although virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic

Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala were the biggest winners of the night at the Ballers Awards that held on Saturday.

Osimhen went home with the Men’s player of the year award, while Oshoala was named the Women’s player of the year.

Osimhen was rewarded for his performances with Lille last season, where he scored 18 goals in 38 games. The Nigerian international also became the most expensive African player ever after Napoli paid 81.3m euros to sign him from Lille last summer.

Osimhen beat Paul Onuachu, Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo to win the award. In addition to the men’s player of the year, The 22-year-old was also named the forward of the year.

Meanwhile, in the women’s category, Oshoala beat Rasheedat Ajibade and Uchenna Kanu to win the Women’s player of the year.

Oshoala is Africa’s best player, and it’s only deserving that she was named the player of the year. The Super Falcons star has been one of Barcelona Femeni’s best players in the last two seasons.

Oshoala scored 19 goals in 20 league games to help La Blaugranes win the Spanish Primera Division, while she also played a key role in their run to the Champions League semi-finals.

Oshoala and Osimhen were not the only winners on the night. Wilfred Ndidi won the midfielder of the year, while Zaidu Sanusi was named the revelation of the year.

Ndubuisi Egbo was named the coach of the year following his record-breaking feat with KF Tirana. Daniel Akpeyi beat Maduka Okoye to the goalkeeper of the year, while Ola Aina was named the defender of the year.
