It is not the great start to the new year the former Lille star may have been hoping for as the Italian club has reacted heavily to his indiscretion
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been handed a fine of two weeks’ wages for recklessness and not respecting the club’s COVID-19 regulations.
A video surfaced online on new year’s day of the Super Eagles’ forward celebrating his birthday in Nigeria with many people showing little or no COVID-19 protocols.
None of the people in the video wore nose masks while there was no attempt at social distancing.
Osimhen has since returned to Italy and tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus disease, even though the 22-year-old is asymptomatic.
This development has reportedly angered Napoli and club boss Gennaro Gattuso, who has been shorn of the former Golden Eaglets star’s services for almost two months.
And the Serie A giants have come down hard on Osimhen’s indiscipline by fining him his two weeks wages, as per Football Italia.

Osimhen has been out of action for Napoli since picking up a shoulder injury on international duty in November.
However, the Nigerian star was expected to make his comeback for the Neapolitans against Cagliari on Sunday, but that will now be put on hold for at least another two weeks as he self-isolates.
