Super Sub Joe Aribo Helps Rangers To A Comeback Win

The Super Eagles midfielder was a second-half substitute as Steven Gerrard’s men came from a goal down to preserve their unbeaten run in the Scottish top-flight

Joe Aribo came on at half-time to half time to help Rangers come back from a goal down to beat Motherwell 3-1 in their Scottish Premiership clash at the Ibrox.

Rangers went into the game looking for an instant reaction after their unbeaten start to the season came to an end on Wednesday following a loss to St. Mirren in the Betfred Cup.

However, they had a slow start as Motherwell took a shock lead inside six minutes courtesy of a strike from Callum Lang.

Rangers looked to respond through their talisman, James Tavernier, but he could not find the target from a freekick.

Steven Gerrard’s side continued to press forward, but Motherwell defended resiliently to go into the break with a surprising lead.

With their unbeaten start in the league at risk, Gerrard rang the changes by sending on Joe Aribo for Glen Kamara, and his introduction changed the course of the game.

The Super Eagles created an opening for Kemar Roofe, but Liam Grimshaw was just at the right place in the right time to clear off the resulting strike.

Nonetheless, Rangers would not be denied as they got their equaliser in the 73rd minute courtesy of a strike from Roofe, who was set up by Ryan Kent.

The Gers then turned it around eight minutes from time as Ianis Hagi headed in a corner from Tavernier. Aribo then showed excellent skill to set up Roofe for his second and Rangers third in the third minute of added time.

The win means Rangers extend their lead at the top over Celtic to 16 points- although Neil Lennon’s men have three games in hand.
