Super Eagles Stars On Target As The Belgian Topflight Returns

The 2020/2021 Jupiler League season returned on Saturday three months after the 2019/2020 campaign ended early due to the coronavirus

It was a good weekend for Super Eagles stars, Paul Onuachu and Cyriel Dessers as their goals helped Genk to a comeback win over Zulte Waregem.

Dessers, joint top scorer in the Eredivisie last season with 15 goals, joined Genk from Heracles for a reported five million euros, and he could not have hoped for a better debut on his return to Belgium.

The clash kicked off with both struggling to find their rhythm, but against the run of play, Olivier Deschacht gave Zulte the lead four minutes before half-time.

Genk started the second half trying to find an equalizer, and they got it through Onuachu in the 73rd minute, who came on 12 minutes after the interval.

The lanky striker then won a penalty for Hannes Wolf’s side seven minutes later, and it was duly converted by his strike partner, Dessers.

Dessers penalty turned out to be the winner as Genk started their campaign with the maximum points.  For Onuachu and Dessers, they are likely going to battle it out at both club and international level, but they would definitely be happy with their start to the season.
