“I would buy him” – Former Manchester United defender urges Arsenal to sign Osimhen

Former England and Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has urged Arsenal to go all out for Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, if they intend to win the English Premier League at the end of the season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been efficient from set-pieces this season, but their struggles from open play continue as they find it very hard to convert simple chances.

The Spanish tactician has continued to field Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as strikers for his team this season, but neither have been convincing in front of goal. Havertz has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 23 games across all competitions this season while Jesus has accounted for just four goals and two assists in 21 games.

Ferdinand, who won several English Premier League titles with Manchester United, believes Arsenal need a striker who can change games if they’re to stand any chance of competing with Liverpool and Chelsea this season.

“Now, you ain’t having a number nine that’s coming on impacting the game, but I don’t even think you’ve got to buy an Osimhen, although I would buy Osimhen. I’m saying you haven’t even got to buy the best out there that’s available. You’ve got to buy someone who can come in and impact games,” the one-time UEFA Champions League winner said as revealed by MSN Sports.

Osimhen was heavily linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window, but ended up on loan with Galatasaray. There is a €75 million release clause in his contract that becomes active in January, but he’s repeatedly mentioned he’ll see his loan spell out.
