The Gabonese hitman scored twice to help Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Mikel Arteta’s side lifted the English FA Cup for a record-extending 14th time.
Chelsea started brightly with the trio of Mount, Giroud, and Pulisic, causing the Arsenal defence a lot of problems, and it was the American who put Chelsea in front inside the first five minutes.
The Gunners, however, grew into the game, and Aubameyang hit back from the penalty spot just before the half-hour mark after Azpilicueta brought him down in the area.
The Blues suffered two huge setbacks afterwards, captain Azpilicueta and Pulisic both succumbed to injuries either side of the break.
Arsenal then put their noses in front courtesy of another Aubameyang masterclass. The Arsenal skipper glided past Zouma after being picked out by Pepe before dinking the ball smartly over Caballero.
The former Borussia Dortmund star thus becomes the first player to score twice in both the FA Cup semi-final & final in the same year since Ian Rush in 1986. Aubameyang also grabbed a brace in the semifinal victory over Man City.
Chelsea were then reduced to ten men after Kovacic received a second booking for a foul on Xhaka.
A terrible day got worse for Chelsea as Frank Lampard’s side ended the game with nine men following an injury to substitute Pedro Rodriguez. The Spanish forward had to be stretchered off with the Blues having already exhausted their substitutes.
There was, however, to be no further goals as Arsenal beat Chelsea for the third time in the FA Cup final.
