The former Watford striker is currently on loan with Manchester United, and he is not expected to return until the end of January 2021
Shanghai Shenhua has announced the signing of former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins as a replacement for Odion Ighalo.
Ighalo joined Manchester United from Shangai in a loan deal last January. The contract expired in May but was extended for another seven months, and as a result, Shanghai have decided to bring in a replacement for him.
It’s Martins second stint at Shanghai having played for them between 2016-2018. It’s been more than two years since the former Inter Milan player played a competitive match as injuries have hampered him.
Martins, 35, has been a free agent for over a year before Shanghai decided to sign him. The duration of this new deal was not stated, but he’ll provide firepower to the Fabio Cannavaro tutored side.
The former Newcastle striker scored 32 goals and provided nine assists in his first spell at the club.
