Ex-Inter Milan Star Convinced Osimhen Can Make Napoli Better

The Nigerian international is closed to making a multi-million euros switch to Italy, and a Serie A veteran is in awe of his ability

Former Inter Milan and Torino ace Benoît Cauet has lauded the physical and football qualities of Lille striker Victor Osimhen, insisting that the youngster is blessed with the right characteristics to lift Napoli to another level.

The Blues finished each of the last two Serie A campaigns second only Juventus and were expected to once again challenge with the Old Ladies for the league title this term.

But a disappointing campaign has seen I Partenopei fall far below that expectations, with Gennaro Gattuso’s men at the risk of finishing outside the European places.

Napoli have identified Osimhen as the right man to help bolster an attack that has only managed 55 goals in 34 games this season.

The deal to take the 21-year-old to the Stadio San Paolo has suffered quite a few snags, but former PSG man Cauet is convinced the former U-17 world champion is worth the trouble.

“Osimhen can make the difference, he can make Napoli make a qualitative leap,” he told Sky Sport Italia as per Sempre Napoli.

“He is physically strong, and this year it has exploded in everyone’s face.

“He is a truly talented young man. Napoli is a great team, and he needs to make the qualitative leap. He needs to explode.”

Osimhen banged in 18 goals in 38 matches in his maiden season at Lille to become the toast of several suitors across Europe.
