“The timing is perfect” – Ex-Super Eagles star urges Osimhen and Lookman to leave Galatasaray, Atalanta

Former Nigeria international Taye Taiwo has called on Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman to leave their current clubs, Galatasaray and Atalanta, respectively, for top European sides during the January transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports

Osimhen, currently on a season-long loan at Galatasaray, missed out on a Premier League move in the summer but has rediscovered his best form in Turkey.

The Super Eagles striker has netted 12 goals and contributed four assists in just 15 matches for the reigning Super Lig champions.

Despite his stellar performances, Osimhen has publicly expressed his commitment to staying with Galatasaray until the end of the season to help secure silverware.

However, Taiwo believes the striker should take advantage of a release clause in his loan deal, which allows for a potential move to Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, or PSG in the winter.

“Victor is back to his best and is ready to return to the big leagues,” Taiwo told Africa Foot.

“Several teams are looking to strengthen their attack, and he should be at the top of their list. Right now, the market is more favourable than in the summer, and Napoli are willing to sell.

“If Manchester United, Chelsea, or Arsenal approach him, he should seize the opportunity.”

Meanwhile, Ademola Lookman, another Super Eagles star, has also been linked with a high-profile transfer.

The Atalanta forward, who was close to joining PSG in the summer before the deal fell through, has enjoyed an impressive 2024.

Lookman’s performances have not only helped Atalanta challenge for the Serie A title but also earned him the 2024 African Player of the Year award.

While Atalanta may prefer to keep Lookman for their title push, Taiwo suggests the club could benefit financially by sanctioning his sale before he enters the final year of his contract.

“The situation is delicate for Lookman and Atalanta, as the club are in a good position to win Serie A,” Taiwo said. “They will surely not want to part ways with their best player.

“However, if you think in terms of financial benefits, the timing is perfect. He is one of the most high-profile players in Europe, and many clubs would do anything to sign him.”

Taiwo’s advice comes as both players remain hot commodities in the transfer market, with clubs across Europe closely monitoring their situations ahead of January.
