No Rivalry: Victor Osimhen Is Like My Brother – Moses Simon

The two Nigerian stars play for two club rivals in the French top division but the on-loan Levante winger insists that he sees his younger compatriot as family.

Nantes star Moses Simon is glad to call Victor Osimhen his brother despite his club suffering two defeats in the hands of Lille this season.

Osimhen arrived Ligue 1 in the summer following a €12 million switch from Sporting Charleroi and quickly announced his coming with a brace on his debut against Nantes in a 2-1 victory for Les Dogues back in August.

Moses was not a part of that bitter loss, though, as his temporary deal from Levante was only confirmed four days after.

But the two Nigerian forwards saw action from start to finish on the first day of March when a Benjamin Andre strike lifted Christophe Galtier’s side past their hosts at the Stade de la Beaujoire.

While Osimhen and Lille continue to fly high in Ligue 1 with a UEFA Champions League spot within reach, Moses and Nantes are stuck in the lower half of the table with their ten-point advantage over the relegation battlers their only consolation for a mediocre campaign.

Despite the duo’s contrasting fortunes, Moses holds no bitterness or jealousy against a lad who called to wish him well when he first touched down in France.

“Osimhen is a great guy and coming to France has been great because I have hooked up with many of our players here,” Moses told The Nation Online.

“He’s like a brother and on my arrival, he called me and he told me he’s happy to have me here.

“We played a great match which we lost 1-0 to his team Lille early March, and after that, we embraced each other and wish ourselves well. It is a great reunion,” he concluded.
