Amidst terrible daily news regarding rising cases of COVID-19 infection all over the world, the Nigerian national team coach has provided a pleasant update that delights the soul.
Franco-German tactician Gernot Rohr has revealed that no Super Eagles player contracted the deadly viral disease that has infected over a million people and killed tens of thousands globally.
Several Nigerian stars ply their trades in top leagues across Europe. There’s Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi in the English Premier League, just as Samuel Chukwueze and Oghenekaro Etebo are in Spain.
The duo of Ola Aina and William Troost-Ekong are based in Italy while Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon play in France. That is not to forget Jamilu Collins and Kingsley Ehizibue in the German Bundesliga, just to name but a few.
All of these countries have suffered varying degrees of the coronavirus outbreak with Italy and Spain two of the worst-hit in Europe.
But Rohr confirmed that he has stayed in touch with all the Super Eagles stars, and none of them is living with the disease.
“We are not idle, there are a lot of calls to make to get news from our players,” the former Gabon coach told Europe1 via girondins4ever.
“They are all healthy already. Not a single Nigerian international has been affected. We take news, not phone, by written message, by spoken message.”
