Inter Milan’s new boy, Victor Moses, was left disappointed after tasting defeat for the first time in the colours of the Nerazzurri.
The on-loan Chelsea midfielder had seen three wins in the first three matches played for Antonio Conte’s men, including the defeat of Fiorentina and Udinese.
The Nigerian even grabbed an assist as Internazionale came from a 2-0 deficit to smash city rivals AC Milan 4-2 at the Guiseppe Meazza Stadium last weekend.
But that winning streak came to an end in midweek as Napoli arrived Milan and went away with a narrow 1-0 win in a Coppa Italia first leg tie. Moses started the game but was replaced midway into the second half.
Inter will have the chance to stage a comeback when the return leg is played in Naples next month. However, the league leaders have a crucial game on Sunday at Lazio, and Moses is calling his teammates to put the latest setback behind and aim for a win.
“We spent a lot of energy in the derby in physical and mental terms, but it doesn’t have to be an excuse,” said the former Wigan winger, according to quotes carried by Calcio Napoli1926.
“We are very disappointed with this defeat (against Napoli), now we have to get up and think about winning the next match,” said the former Wigan winger, according to quotes carried by Calcio Napoli.
Moses had all his football in England before spending a year in Turkey with Fenerbahce. But after just four matches, the 2013 Afcon winner is already convinced of the difficulty of the football played in Italy.
“My setting in Italian football is quite difficult; it is very tactical. It is important for me to put myself at the service of the team and my teammates,” Moses added.
