Moses Simon On Target Again But Super Eagles Star’s Night Ended Prematurely

Moses Simon was on target for the second game running as Nantes played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Dijon in their Ligue 1 encounter on Saturday.

The 24-year-old who is attracting interest from Newcastle was on target for the second consecutive game this week. The Super Eagles star scored in the Canaries loss to PSG on Wednesday, and he continued in that form against Dijon on Saturday.

Nantes fell behind to a Stephy Mavididi’s 15th-minute strike, but the lead was shortlived as Simon drew the away side level with a perfect strike five minutes later.

It was Simon’s ninth goal in all competitions for Nantes this season, and fifth in the French top-flight.  However, he could not play the whole encounter as he was taken off in the 43rd minute with due to an injury.

Julio Tavares restored Djion’s lead in the 24th minute, but Nantes restored parity ten minutes later thanks to a Mickael Alphonse own goal.

Mavididi got his second and Djion’s third of the night in the 90th minute, but there was still more twist to come as Andrei Girotto also scored in the stoppage time to secure a point for Nantes in what was a thrilling encounter.

With the draw, Nantes are now in 12th place with 33 points from 24 games, while are in 17th place with 25 points from the same number of games.
